Dear Parents and Young Musicians,
The ER band boosters approach you today to request for your help. We need your support more than ever! School wide budget cuts being implemented by the district will impact our music program severely. The funding proposed for the 2015-2016 school year for the band department is BARELY 12% of the funds required to run the program as you are familiar with.
We can all agree that this is not desirable and will provide our kids with a mediocre year of music experience. In the past, the booster organization has helped support the program by funding about 30% of the total cost to run the program. We have run fundraisers with YOUR help to generate the income. We availed of the CSC option as one of our major fundraising platforms and raised approximately $7000 this year. Thank YOU for that!!! Going forward, for the CSC program to generate the maximum that it can, we need to produce larger numbers of volunteers than we have done in the past. We have the avenue, we need to come together and provide the man hours.
Currently, ALL the band enrichment programs are funded by what the boosters raise through various efforts and so far have been provided to the entire band enrollment at NO COST to your student. Sixty percent of our current students avail of these programs and the remaining are always encouraged to jump in and participate.
To continue the basic cost of running the program on a day to day basis as well as provide the variety of additional options that make for a successful band repertoire…….we NEED YOUR HELP!! The numbers highlighted above are a strong indication of the extent.
We have identified an expanded CSC fundraiser option that can help us raise as much as $30,000, but we all need to chip in.
An exciting opportunity coming this summer is to volunteer with CSC, in guest services, for three major concerts at the TCF stadium……….the Rolling Stones (for all of us who remember them from our younger years), Luke Bryan (for all the country music lovers) and One Direction( for the young blooded ones). Come and attend one or ALL concerts for FREE and fundraise for YOUR band! Please see attachment for dates.
There will be a training session on May 18th, at 7:00pm at the ERHS band room. Bring all the family and friends that you can muster up!!! (ALL new and previous volunteers are required to attend. Please bring the following ID: Drivers license & social security card, OR Passport (for background check purposes).
Sign up on the following google document:
or email Namrata Thakur at firstname.lastname@example.org.
During the Fall, we plan to continue our partnership with CSC to cover the Viking and Gopher football games.
Your engagement and generosity is what makes it all possible!! Let’s take advantage of the concerts this summer and come together on this important effort!
Thank you all for your graciousness in coming out in the past and helping to make BAND at East Ridge a fabulous option for our young musicians and for your anticipated help in the future!! WITHOUT YOU NOTHING IS POSSIBLE, AND TOGETHER, EVERYTHING IS!!

Enhancing the band experience is our only focus and as discussed at parent night, our main enhancement in the 2014-15 school year is to fund guest musicians who will be working with each of the bands throughout the various seasons. It is our goal to raise money through our main fundraiser, Guest Services at TCF Stadium, to pay for these guest conductors. If every family participates in the program outlined below, we will raise enough money to pay for the high quality guest conductors without raising any additional user fees. We will provide an update bimonthly as to the status of participation to track whatprograms we can support throughout the school year.
2014 TCF Bank Stadium Guest Services
For the 2014-15 school year, all band families are asked to participate in two events per band member on behalf of the ERRBB (East Ridge Raptors Band Boosters). This could be one adult attending two games, or two adults attending one game per student. Any additional games worked by family, friends & supporters of the ERHS band program are appreciated! If you prefer to opt out of this event, we ask that you write a check for $200 per band student made payable to ERRBB.
Here’s what you need to do:
Select a training date & game date(s).
You only need to attend one training session. After being trained and turning in paperwork, you do not need to go to a training session again in future years (ie. if you participated last year, you don’t need to be trained again this year).
For background check/security reasons, all workers must provide official documentation.
Please bring a copy of the following identification methods with you to the training session:
